TB is now a notifiable disease in India

It has become mandatory for healthcare providers in India to report all tuberculosis cases to local government authorities, following an order issued by the government of India on 7 May 2012. This is to ensure proper TB diagnosis and case management, reduce TB transmission and address the problems of emergence and spread of drug-resistant TB.

Tuberculosis is one of the most serious public health problems in the Region, particularly India, and early diagnosis and complete treatment is key to preventing and controlling the disease.
