Regional strategy for strengthening pandemic preparedness developed

Regional strategy for strengthening pandemic preparedness developedIn a regional consultation held at Bangkok from 9-11 July 2009, a strategy for strengthening national capacity to respond to the pandemic of influenza A H1N1 was formulated. The strategy addresses issues pertaining to surveillance, laboratory support, communication, rapid deployment of critical resources, rational use of antivirals and vaccine as well as application of non-pharmaceutical interventions in mitigating the impact of pandemic.
