The Department of NDS was redesigned during the SEARO restructuring process that took place in March 2004. The Department consists of 10 WHO collaborative programmes that are under responsibility of six technical units namely, Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI), Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD), Social Determinants of Health (SDH), Mental Health and Substance Abuse (MHS), Disability, Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (DPR) and Health Promotion and Education (HPE). Presently, it has 7 fixed term professional staff, including the Chief, Noncommunicable Disease and Social Determinants of Health, and 10 general-service support staff

 

 

To support member country efforts to effectively implement chronic diseases and lifestyle related health programmes.
