|
To
collaborate with WHO for promoting and conducting research in reproductive
health on the issues of national relevance, including biomedical, clinical,
operation and socio-behavioral research on the aspects of manternal and
child health, fertility regulation, infertility, reproductive tract
infections and sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, adolescents
secual and reproductive health;
To
collaborate and coordinate as a nodal center for multi-center clinical
trials designated to assess the effectiveness and acceptability of
therapeutic interventions and molecular diagnostics to improve reproductive
health, and the efficacy and safety of fertility regulating agents for
women and men and center of excellence for management of infertility;
To
strengthen capacity of research workers in human reproduction by creating a
core group of researchers all over India, staff training and
development. This pool of researchers could also serve as a resource for
assisting the neighboring countries for reproductive research as needed;
To
contribute to the post-graduate training in Obstetrics & Gynecology by
holding regular National Continuing Medical Education Programmes, Workshops
& Seminars and introducing e-learning cources for the benefit of
post-graduates and practitioners on important aspects of maternal health;
To
promote and support inter-institutional/inter-country collaboration and
networking within the Special Programme on Research, Development and
Research Training in Human Reproduction and within the network of
Collaborating Centre for Research in Human Reproduction. This would, inter
alia, include acting as a resource center for research in reproductive
health for interpretation of results of the studies carried elsewhere, to advice
on the selection of methods in the programme, and to help in the adaptation
of new technologies.

provide training in population and social sciences research related to
reproductive health for nationals of developing countries, especially from
the countries in Asia.
In
collaboration with WHO, undertake research projects in the field of
reproductive health, gender roles and socio-cultural context with special
emphasis on high risk groups across the border, adolescent migrants and
population in Asia.
To
provide technical support and dissemination of knowledge related to
population and reproductive health to scholars and policy-makers at the
international, regional as well as country level.

strengthen the collaboration with other WHO collaborating centres i.e., The
Institute of Population Research, Peking University, Beijing, China;
Shanghai Institute of Parenthood Research (SIPPR), Shanhai, China; and WHO
CC for research on Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), University of Louvain,
School of Public Health, Brussel, Belgium.
To
assist in the implementation of research program of the Department of
Reproductive Health and Research through conducting research, organizing
workshops and providing technical assistance and exchange of information
when needed.
