Gender, Women and Health

 

In 2004-2005, GWH's focus evolved from women's health to a broader approach on gender, women and health. The department's name was subsequently changed from the Department of Gender and Women's Health to the Department of Gender, Women and Health to reflect this evolution.  During the 2008-2009 biennium, the department was housed in the Health System Development Cluster and financed under the “Women’s Health” (WMH) area of work of the WHO budget. 16 days of Activism against Gender Violence

SEAR COUNTRIES IN THE GENDER BASED VIOLENCE PREVENTION

Every year the world celebrates the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. It starts on 25th November, commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on 10th December, the International Human Rights Day. Gender based violence (GBV) has been associated to violation of human rights especially on enjoyment of living and fundamental freedom and becomes a major public health problem on physical, psychological and sexual aspects.
