Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO-SEAR visit to Bhutan
The Hon'ble Health Minister, Dasho Secretary and heads of departments of Ministry of Health and allied health partners offered felicitations to Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, on her re-appointment to the post of WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia for a second five-year term.
The region has made great progress under Dr Singh's leadership. Bhutan and the region have witnessed significant improvements in the health outcomes, and this is remarkable considering that the region is home to a quarter of the world’s population with a changing epidemiological and demographic landscape, and disproportionate burden of disease.
The Ministry of Health extended their support in translating the Regional Director’s vision of sustaining the health gains made so far; accelerating progress to finish the unfinished agenda; innovating for better results.
