Development of the Regional Strategy for Harm Reduction in Asia and the Pacific 2010-2015-Confronting HIV among people who Inject Drugs, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 7- 9 December 2009.Bi-regional meeting was organized at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 7 to 9 December 2009, to review progress of the existing “Bi-regional Strategy for Harm Reduction 2005-2009 - HIV and Injecting Drug Use”, and examine and comment on a new regional harm reduction strategy for 2010-2015.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 9 - 12 December 2009Workshop on Opioid Dependence, HIV/AIDS and TB was conducted at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9 to 12 December 2009. The objectives of workshop were to explore what models of response were practiced in different countries in the region; sharing information on the effective responses to opioid dependence, TB and HIV; and to discuss models of effective coordinated response to TB, HIV and opioid dependence.

Inter-country Training on Antiretroviral Therapy Cohort Analysis for Low HIV Burden SEAR CountriesWHO SEARO organized an Inter-country Training on Antiretroviral Therapy Cohort Analysis for Low HIV Burden SEAR Countries at WHO/SEARO, New Delhi, from 24 to 26 November 2009.  The objectives of the training were to strengthen national HIV treatment monitoring and evaluation systems and in particular to increase national capacity to conduct cohort-based analyses of treatment outcomes among persons receiving antiretroviral therapy.  Representatives from the national AIDS programs of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Timor Leste attended the workshop.
