Polio News

India: As of 16 Nov 2009 - 25 wild polio (P1=1 and P3=24) cases reported this week. Total polio cases in 2009= 598 (WPV1=69, WPV3=523, WPV1+3=1, VDPV type 1=2 and VDPV type 2 =3).
Total poliovirus cases in 2008=559 (P1=75 and P3=484).


JE News

In Nepal, as of 08 May 2006 a total of 176 suspect JE cases have been reported, of which 7 died (CFR 4%) in 2006.     In 2005, a total of 2824 suspect JE cases were reported, of which 316 died (CFR 11.2%).  Of these, 1769 cases and 233 deaths occurred in the western, mid-western and far-western regions of Nepal.
