Nursing and midwifery workforce
There is a paucity of nurses and midwives in some
countries in the South-East Asia Region. Efforts have been made to collect
and compile the estimated number of nursing and midwifery workforce. Table 1
depicts the number of nurses and midwives and auxiliary nurse-midwives
reported by nursing councils, nursing and/or midwifery associations or the
ministries of health.
