A profile on
the emergencies Nepal is available in this site and covers various
hazards and national and local systems in place for emergency response by the
health sector.
Various activities have been conducted in Nepal since 2001 in supporting
capacity building of the health sector for preparedness and response. WHO has
assisted the Ministry of Health in its preparedness planning and capacity
building in improving public health interventions in emergencies. A training
programme for District Health Staff organized as rapid response teams is has
progressed well thus far and is ongoing for some districts.

Mass Casualty Management Training
A computer based simulation to train health workers in
principles of mass casualty management. MUSTER- or Multi-User System for
Training in Emergency Response was modified to suit the context of Nepal based on a scenario of an
earthquake in KathmanduValley.
WHO together with the Ministry of Health has conducted training in for
health staff in various districts.

Based Mass Casualty Management Simulation Exercise- MUSTER Guidelines
Vulnerability Assessment of
Health Facilities in KathmanduValley
Together with the National Society for Earthquake Technology- Nepal (NSET
Nepal) WHO has embarked on an exercise to make health facilities
earthquake resistant. The first phase of developing guidelines and
appropriate methodologies has been completed together with a complete
assessment of these health facilities. Interventions still need to be
implemented
