Environmental Health (access to safe water and hygiene,
sanitation situation) and Food Safety:
A Joint International Programme
on Chemical Safety (WHO/ILO/UNEP) technical note on “Asbestos - hazards and
safe practice for clear-up after tsunami” has been released at request of WCO
(attached).

2. WHO actions over the past 24hrs:
WCO presented final “Flash Appeal” work-plan
to MoH which feels very much comfortable with it as
it fits the plans being undertaken for the recuperation/reconstruction phase
and those not overlap with the inputs from other agencies/organizations.
Final version to be sent to RO tomorrow first hour.
WR-WCO appointed by MoH
to make compilation of comments on the Health Chapter of the WB-UN needs
assessment document and final edition in order to MoH
present this document to the Ministry of Finance before being forwarded to
the WB for finalization.
