Jaipur Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance
Acknowledging the growing global importance of antimicrobial resistance, the Health Ministers of all Member States of the WHO South-East Asia Region adopted the “Jaipur Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance”. The Declaration recognizes that it is imperative that the national governments accord utmost priority to this problem to preserve the efficacy of antibiotics in the fight against microbial diseases.

National alliance critical for combating antimicrobial resistance
Combating burgeoning problem of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) requires a multi-sectoral and coordinated approach by the national alliance of key stakeholders with key elements enunciated in the WHO Regional Strategy on Prevention and Containment of Antimicrobial Resistance providing guidance for activities in country specific context.
SEA Regional Strategy on Antimicrobial Resistance
A Regional Strategy for Prevention and Containment of Antimicrobial Resistance has been finalized by a group of experts who also gave a call to Member countries to adapt this strategy and rapidly scale-up the interventions detailed in it. The goal of the strategy is to reduce mortality and morbidity due to resistant organisms and to preserve efficacy of available antimicrobial agents as well as discovery of new drugs/interventions.
WHO calls for rational use of antibiotics
WHO is urging intensified global commitment to safeguard antibiotics for preventing and controlling infectious diseases as well as for future generations. Growing resistance in microbes to antibiotics threatens the continued effectiveness of many medicines.
