Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI)

WHO promotes Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI)strategy to address the major causes of death as well as overall health and well being of under-five children in an integrated manner.

Member States in the Region are implementing IMCI as the main vehicle for child health programmes.

Over the years, the geographic coverage of IMCI implementation has been progressively increasing in many countries. IMCI geographic coverage ranges from 25% to 100%. As per country reports Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Timor Leste have covered all their districts (100%). Pre-service IMCI has been introduced in medical and nursing education in several Member States.
