Injury Surveillance in SEA Region

Integration of Injury Prevention into Maternal & Child Health

  • The handbook is the product of the collaborative work of WHO SEARO working group on integrating child injury prevention into the existing Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program, Thailand MCH & child experts and the Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. This activity is partly fulfilling the World Health Assembly (WHA) resolution on child injury prevention, 2011. The same can be planned as an activity in relation to child injury prevention for other South-East Asia Region countries. The handbook will require data from injury surveillance and other national statistics as well as research information including the child injury expert opinions in the country to select the most common causes of injury to be included and guided for prevention. Indonesia has also done one page injury content in the MCH hand book and Sri Lanka is under process.
