Overview

Malnutrition in different forms continued to affect a large proportion of the populations of Member States in the Region. The regional nutrition strategy is intended to assist Member States in developing a multisectoral approach by identifying and prioritizing nutrition action in all relevant sectors. The strategy has taken into consideration the diversity exhibited in the nature and magnitude of nutrition problems in Member States, as well as the available national capacities and technical expertise to address such problems. The Regional Nutrition Strategy: Addressing malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies with its broad-based approach, emphasis on a multi-sectoral approach and identification of core nutrition interventions has been unanimously endorsed by the sixty-fourth session of the Regional Committee and adopted resolution SEA/RC64/R4.
