VARIABLE ENDEMICITY FOR DF/DHF IN COUNTRIES OF SEA REGION

Dengue Fever/Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever is endemic in the 10 countries (DPR Korea is not endemic) of the SEA Region and detection of all four serotypes has now rendered these countries hyperendemic. Countries are categorized into three categories that mention below in the table including highlighted map:

-      Indonesia o   Hyperendemicity with all four serotypes circulating in urban areas
-      Maldives o   Gradually spreading to rural areas

-      Timor-Leste
B -      Bhutan o   Endemicity uncertain
-      Nepal o   Bhutan: first outbreak reported in 2004
o   Nepal: Reported first indigenous dengue case in 2004
C Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Not endemic country
