World Water Day 2019 – “Leaving No One Behind”

World Water Day is an annual UN observance day that advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. In this year’s message from the Regional Director, WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia the fundamental link between access to clean and safe water and the successful control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases is emphasized. The most recent figures show that remote and hard-to-reach communities continue to bear the bulk of the burden from non-tropical diseases. It is no coincidence that these are the very same communities that are most disadvantaged when it comes to accessing clean and safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
