A key area of WHO’s work in India is strengthening the pharmaceutical sector, including drug regulatory capacity and trade, to enable it to play a pivotal role in India’s growth.

WHO works in close collaboration with Government of India to leverage the strengths and synergies in strengthening the landscape of pharmaceuticals in India. Access to medicines is a critical factor for success in the 2030 Sustainable Development agenda. Regulatory system strengthening is one of the major strategic priorities for WHO Country Office for India to promote equitable access to quality, safe, efficacious and affordable medical products.
