Chairman – Nepal National PolioPlus Committee, Rotary International handing over of digital VHF Handheld Radio Sets to WHO Nepal, Programme for Immunization Preventable Diseases, at WHO, UN House, Pulchowk on 21 November 2017.

Rotary International’s contribution to Polio Eradication in Nepal has been tremendous.

Surveillance is a key component of the global polio eradication programme. WHO Programme for Immunization Preventable Diseases (WHO-IPD) manages a nationwide network of field offices and a central coordinating office to provide technical assistance to the Govt. of Nepal in vaccine preventable disease surveillance including polio. Rotary has been a trusted and extremely supportive partner for WHO-IPD.

Safety and Security of the team members while on duty is of primary concern. VHF radios with staff as well as in vehicles have proven to be one of the dependable means of communication during emergencies from remote areas.

Rotary International has provided financial support for the purchase of new digital VHF hand held Radio sets for the safety and security of the WHO-IPD Team. It was formally handed over to the WHO Representative to Nepal on 21 November 2017.

WHO wishes to thank Rotary International for the support provided to polio eradication in Nepal.
