About WHO Representative

Dr Razia Pendse

Dr Razia Pendse took over as WHO Representative to Sri Lanka in May 2017.

Dr Pendse, who is a national of India, has been with WHO since 2004. She has held various positions at WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia and WHO headquarters in Geneva. Her most recent position was as the Regional Advisor – HIV/STI and Hepatitis, WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia

She has more than 15 years of experience working in public health. She previously served as Assistant Project Officer – Safe Motherhood and Newborn Care, UNICEF India, has done consultancies for UNFPA and started her public health career working for non-governmental organizations in India.

Dr Pendse received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Paediatrics from the University of Rajasthan, India and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of London, UK.
