Worldwide more than 214 countries and overseas territories or communities have reported laboratory confirmed cases of pandemic influenza H1N1 2009, including over 18300 deaths. The Government of Timor- Leste received 120,000 donated H1N1 vaccines from the Government of Australia recently. This amount will cover about ten percent of its population. The target groups for this vaccination programme will include pregnant women, children between the ages of 6-10, those with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, TB and cancer in eleven sub-districts in the country with a higher population density. Health Care workers across the country will also be able receive this vaccination.
