Impact evaluation of programme on Reducing the treatment gap for epilepsy Maliana sub-district

The Ministry of Health, Republic Democratic of Timor Leste has been working closely with the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office and the Mental Health Unit (WHO/SEARO) in developing and scaling up projects to empower the existing primary health care system of Timor Leste in the delivery of mental health care. One limitation for the expansion of this activity was the continuous unavailability of Carbamazapine which is the medicine more frequently used in Timor Leste to treat people with epilepsy. Now this has been overcome thanks to the generous donation of Carbamazapine by the Royal Government of Thailand.
