Mobile Health Connecting Mothers and Midwives in Manufahi
Excitement and enthusiasm filled the air as Timor-Leste's very first mobile health project was launched in Manufahi district earlier this year. Liga Inan, which means 'mobile moms', is a four year project funded by USAID and implemented by Health Alliance International. The aim of the project is to improve the health of mothers and children in a way that has never been done before in Timor-Leste. Using the latest digital technology, midwives can now use mobile phones to track women’s progress during pregnancy, send important health messages and establish life saving connections in a country where access to health services is extremely limited.
